How much money has been spent by the Chinese government on improving conditions in Beijing for the Olympic Games?

The PRC government has reportedly drawn up a budget of RMB 180 billion (US$ 21.7 billion) for 142 Olympics-related improvement projects in Beijing. Of this, some US$ 14 billion will come from the PRC government and the remaining US$ 8 billion will come from domestic and overseas private-sector investment. The Beijing Municipal Finance Bureau, under the control of the central government's Ministry of Finance, will reportedly allocate half of the necessary PRC government funding.
