Are dietary supplements becoming popular in China?

Whether it is to curb obesity or simply a case of health awareness, more and more people in China are taking dietary supplements. In 1998, the dietary supplements sales were at US$3 million but in 2001, it doubled to US$6 million. It is estimated that the industry will continue to boom and by 2010, annual sales may reach US$10 billion. It is reported that over 3,000 domestic manufacturers of dietary supplements produce more than 4,000 different types of products.
