Are there any rules in China regulating the online transmissions of Internet information service providers?

Yes. The Provisional Regulations for the Administration of Internet Publishing, promulgated by the State Press and Publications Administration and the Ministry of the Information Industry on June 27, 2002 and effective as of August 1, 2002, sets out specific rules in this regard.

"Internet publishing" is defined as the online transmission, posting or sending to user terminals through the Internet, by Internet information service providers, after selection and editing works created by themselves or others for browsing, reading, use or downloading by the public.
