Can foreign law be designated to govern the sale of the goods?

The parties to a sale of goods contract can indeed designated a law other than Chinese law to be applicable but it should be kept in mind that the governing law is of a place that has a significant relationship with the transaction. An option is to designate The UN Convention on the Sale of Goods as the governing law of the contract. Should both parties be from countries that are members to the convention and they have not decided on the governing law, the UN Convention shall govern the contract.
